It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to TAPI – The African Politeia Institute.
TAPI is a think tank in the sense that it seeks to provide deep thinking and insights to the various stakeholders involved in the formulation and implementation of public policy choices. As our focus is the improvement of welfare and prosperity of the generality of people, we are consciously non-partisan and rely on evidence-based research to promote and enrich public discourse and debate. To this end, we combine scholarship with the key issues facing Nigeria and, by extension, the African continent. Although a young institution, thanks to our firmly holistic approach and comprehensive research on pertinent socioeconomic issues, TAPI’s contribution to policy discourse is impactful and expected to grow further.
In these times of unprecedented upheaval and uncertainty in the world as demonstrated starkly by the COVID-19 pandemic and its negative impact on the world economy, the sharp fluctuations in oil prices, the challenges of climate change and its very real implications for humankind, not to mention protests around the globe by people demanding that those at the helm do better, our shared vulnerability and interconnectedness have been brought to fore like never before. In such an environment it behoves on the politicians to ensure they pursue inclusive policies that will improve prosperity and reverse negative socioeconomic indices, and deliver better governance. We hope that our blogs and research papers will provide insights and guidance in navigating the complex terrain of policy formulation and implementation.
We invite you to explore our website, and it is our sincere hope that you enjoy our intellectually stimulating research and articles.
And since we prioritize debate, we would be delighted if then you share your thoughts and insights with us.
With warm wishes,
Dr. Jeremy Gaines and Dr. Lanre Babalola
